Wahaca’s Day of the Dead

Wahaca‘s Day of the Dead festival opened at the Old Vic Tunnels last night, and stays open until 3rd November.

The festival is an annual holiday celebrated throughout Mexico to honour, remember and send prayers to loved ones who have died. Wahaca’s Day of the Dead festival is produced by NOMAD in association with the Embassy of Mexico features musics, food, art and films.

In a series of under-the-arch tunnels, you can explore room after room of colourful and unusual installations before sampling the Mexican influenced food and tequilla-based cocktails.

Qin Xie

Qin Xie is a London based food, wine and travel journalist and trained chef.

When not infiltrating Michelin restaurants as a kitchen tourist, she writes about food, drink and travel. Her work has appeared on Yahoo, FT, The Times and CNN.

Her first cookbook, co-authored with YS Peng at Hunan Restaurant, is out March 2014.

According to friends, her watch is always set to UTC -- ready for the next big adventure. In reality, she is happiest at the dinner table or by the sea.
